Korean cosmetics haul (in Taipei)

Hey everyone~

When I came to Taipei, I didn't pack very much as I thought I could simply buy everything here.

Which was a bad idea, I might add. You can buy everything you need here, but it's quite expensive compared to Korea.

I bought most things from Etude House, since their shops are almost everywhere. They also added the most samples for me, which was nice.

Something else that was nice about their shops:

They still had many items of Etude House's Sweet Recipe collection!

I was really happy about that, because when I was in Korea in 2013, lots of those items were sold out already.

The first item I got was their Sweet Recipe Cupcake All Over Color in RD301, Rasberry Mousse Cake. 

Then I also got one of their Sweet Recipe Dear My Jelly Lips talk lipsticks. So far, I really love it ^^

Finally, something I actually needed: cleansing tissues.

And a dry shampoo. Taipei is quite humid, so basically I gotta wash my hair every day for it to look okay-ish. This is for lazy days, or when I don't have any time to wash my hair. Or for those days during which I only have time to shower in the morning...and in the morning, except for one shower stall, the water is cold. 

Their silk scarf hair treatment~ My hair is pretty damaged so I needed something to help me with that. When I bought it, they added another one for free as there was a Buy 1 Get 1 event going on.

I also went to Skinfood because I needed a toner, and theirs are always great. However, they're super expensive here. I paid around 700NTD for this one (almost 20€) >< But I really needed a toner, my skin is pretty dry here.

I also went to Tony Moly to get their Cats Wink clear powder. Since the weather here is pretty humid, and it will only get even more humid in summer, only BB cream will not last very long.

I also bought two sheet masks at Innisfree because they were cheap.

So that's my small haul for today.

Today I finally have another review for you~ ^-^

Something that I almost used up by now, it's Etude House's Baby Choux Base! :D

Sweet Recipe Baby Choux Base

#02 Berry Choux

Amount: 25g (35g in the new packaging)

I bought this while I was in Korea last year, simply because the packaging was too sweet~

A sales assistant helped me pick it, and we had quite some trouble finding the right one. 

She told me the Baby Choux Base was made for people with oily skin, and because I told her I have very dry and sensitive skin she said it could dry out my skin even more.

However, after testing every single BB cream that was fit for dry skin in the store on the back of my hand, we came to the conclusion that all the BB creams...were too dark for me ;-;
And here I thought at least in Korea I'd be able to buy make-up...

So in the end, I got the Baby Choux Base anyways because it was light enough for my skin tone, and apparantly the #02 Base is especially good for pale skin as it brightens the skin up a bit.

As you can see on the packaging, it has an SPF too, which is great because I get sunburns so easily~

It comes in a small, adorable jar, which I usually don't like that much because it tends to be not very hygenic.

However...

It already comes with a small spatula, which is great 

It has a very specific scent to it, kind of sweet...yet still a bit chemical.

Very powdery, somehow.

The texture is quite thick and feels a bit grainy, which reminds me of peelings. I guess that is supposed to help with making your skin look soft.

You only need to use a very small amount to cover your whole face, just like BB cream.

Which is great, because that way the product will last you a lot longer 

As you (hopefully) can see, it brightens up my skin a lot.  The colour is really light~ which makes sense, since it's intended for people with pale skin, but even for me it's so light that it looks quite unnatural if I only wear the baby choux base.

But since it's just a base, it's intended to be worn underneath BB cream or other foundation, and for that it works really well. Usually foundation or BB cream is always a tad bit too dark for me, but with the baby choux base underneath, it always has the right colour. And it appears more soft too, even when my skin is very dry.

I love it~ It was not expensive, and yet it works so well for me.

And it lasts so long too~ I have been using it for over a year now and it's still not empty!

The main reason I bought this was obviously the packaging. Look at how cute that bunny is!

I bought it in a Tony Moly store in Hongdae, after testing each of the Perfume Bars. I originally wanted to buy #5, which is said to smell like Green tea, but unfortunately they only had testers available for #1 - #4 T^T 

The other 3 scents (#1,#3,#4) were all too sweet and flowery for me. I prefer a lighter, more refreshing scent as I don't really use perfume that much and I don't want people to smell my perfume from 10feet away.

So~ I went with #2, Momo Fruity. I liked the scent immediately, as it reminded me of peaches and other fruit. It's a light scent, still sweet, but not too much. To quote my roommate: "Smells yummy, stop making me hungry!" 

An Amazon seller wrote the Top Note is Citrus, consisting of Lemon, Bergamot and Orange.
The middle note is Floral, consisting of Freesia, Muguet and White Rese.

The Base Note is Musk Woody, consisting of Musk and Sandalwood.

This sounds all fancy, doesn't it? I have no idea what those top, middle and base notes are though.

So let's just stick with "it smells like sweet,fresh fruit" :D

When you open the cap, you'll see that the perfume itself is protected by a smaller cap.

Yay for that ^^

Take off that small cap and twist the bottom of the perfume bar just like a lipstick.

I would describe the perfume bar as something that's similiar to the texture of a lip balm, just a bit more dense and not as soft.

You can apply it just by shortly swiping it over wherever you want to apply  your perfume.

It does not feel sticky after applied, and the scent is quite light so you don't have to be afraid of using too much at once. If you want a stronger scent, just apply it another time on the same spot.

The scent lasts for 3-5 hours, I'd say.

There's nothing about this that I don't like.

The scent, the texture, the great price and the cute, yet also convenient packaging. I would not take liquid perfume with me when going out, but this perfume bar? Just throw it into your bag, you can take it anywhere to reapply it if yor're going out for a longer period of time ^^

Nature Republic Tweety Lip Tint Review

                                          

Nature Republic Tweety Lip Tint

Colour: No.3 Petit Pink

I bought this cute lip tint back when I was in Korea. While casually browsing through Nature Republic (They had a sales event going on), I found a corner filled with cute Tweety products. And obviously, I couldn't resist :D

Unfortunately, dumb me already removed the cardboard box it came it that had a cute Tweety print on it as well, and I just now noticed that I forgot to take a photo of it ;-; 

The bottle is light and small, perfect to take along while travelling,

The applicator is soft, a bit like a sponge and soaks up the lip tint, making it really easy to apply the tint on your lips evenly.

The tint itself is like a soft gel, not completely liquid like Tony Moly's tint for example. Which is really nice, because it will actually moisturize your lips instead of drying them out. It will feel slightly sticky after applying it, though that feeling fades quite quickly.

The tint also has a light, sweet scent to it, which reminds me a bit of some perfume that I once used.

It's quite pleasant, and not too strong which I really like.

As you can see, it's not a strong colour at all. The tint takes a bit of time until your lips will show some colour so I'd recommend you to not apply it directly before going out.

I would say this tint is nice if you simply want a light, natural colour to brighten up your lips a bit. Mine usually look so pale that people tend to ask me if I'm feeling ill, so this colour, especially because it's very light, works great for making me look a bit more healthy. And pink lips look cute, right? ^-^ 

I love this tint! Like I said before, the colour is perfect for a simple day on which I just want to look natural, but still put together and healthy ^-^ 

I can only recommend it to anyone who hates getting dry lips and likes natural, light colours on them :D
